Maria Victoria Haas - freelance presenter, journalist, organist, singer

The person – multilingual and versatile

Maria Victoria Haas was born in 1980 and grew up in Domat/Ems, Grisons. She is fluent in Romansh, German, Spanish, French, English and Italian. She lives in Ticino with her husband and her young daughter. Besides her work, she writes crime novels, mixes cocktails and practices boxing.

The journalist and presenter – focus on politics, media, and society

Maria Victoria Haas has started working as a presenter in 2009, and since 2020 she is a freelance journalist and presenter. Thanks to her multilingualism, she booked appearances and assignments throughout Switzerland and is present wherever multilingual Switzerland comes together. Among other things, she has hosted SRG's August 1st programme several times, SRG's Christmas concert in four languages, and the federal celebrations on the Rütli Meadow in 2020.
Maria Victoria is also in great demand as a presenter of media industry events. Since 2015, she has been leading the SwissRadioDay, in 2019 she hosted the International Public Media Conference in Bern, and in 2020 the SwissMediaForum.
She is a well-known figure in news and political journalism. From 2009 to 2017, she hosted the Rhaeto-Romanic news programme "Telesguard" on SRF1. She completed an advanced training course in political communication at ZHAW and carries with her the experience gained from several voting programmes and interviews with politicians. 

The journalist and presenter - focus on culture, religion, and philosophy

Maria Victoria Haas studied classical singing in Bern. Further training took her to New York, Heidelberg and Hamburg. As a freelance singer, she has worked in the fields of opera, operetta, oratorio and lied and has won several prizes. She has worked as an organist for 25 years. Although she has temporarily put her career as a singer on hold, cultural topics remain her strengths. She hosted the live broadcast of the "Cavalleria rusticana" from Matera for RAI, Arte and SRG, among others. She also hosted the RSI documentary "Un Barbiere a Lugano", hosted the Swiss Film Prize several times and the Saira grischuna rumantscha in the Federal Parliament, an event marking the 75th anniversary of Romansh as the fourth national language.
From 2017 to 2019, Maria Victoria Haas worked for Radio Rumantsch, where she produced radio features for the religion and philosophy programme "Vita e Cretta" and for the background programme "Marella".
